At first glance, it may not appear so. There are numerous individuals who suffer anxiety and depression that appear to be in good physical health, just as there are those with serious physical illness who maintain a healthy psychological balance.

However, both play an equal part of your health and wellbeing and have a strong effect on each other.

It is believed that up to 95% of all illness and disease actually initially comes from excessive stress, which of course is associated as a psychological function and not a physical.

Depression, although often mislabelled as a disease itself, is actually a precursor to many physical diseases as continual self neglect causes the body to begin to decompose.

Can I improve my mental health by focusing on my physical health and vice versa?

The answer is (often) yes.

Although the root cause of the issue is the true decided in what can help heal it, a substantial amount of exercise, good nutrition and a healthy sleeping routine are well known to help fight minor psychological health issues as those with anxiety and depression often remain highly sedentary and have poor eating and sleep habits.
